BRAD: COURIER MAIL ENDORSES RUDD

Friday, November 23rd, 2007
brad-courier-mail-endorses-rudd

Wow this is weird, I didn’t even know newspapers did this. Let alone should do this.

Shouldn’t newspapers be impartial? Offering the facts or at least an even spread of opinion and stories? One singular blanker endorsement of one party and candidate doesn’t feel right. It seems counter to the spirit of true journalism.

Then I always was a naive bleeding heart.

But hey it will certainly be great for Kevin Rudd and Labor. So I won’t complain.

Courier Mail: We stand behind a man of our state and our times

He deserves the public’s support. And he has the support of The Courier-Mail, only the second endorsement we have given federal Labor since the newspaper was established 74 years ago.

Courier Mail: We stand behind a man of our state and our times

This ringing endorsement will certainly have significant positive benefits for the Rudd/Labor campaign in the key battle ground of Queensland. Labor desperately needs to win Queensland seats and they need a big big swing to pull it off.

The endorsement will certainly start a cascade of Rudd signature high 5s, gaped mouth laughter and pointing to colleagues at Labor HQ.

It has been great few days for Labor and they would be hoping this good luck can hold over to Sunday.

Some other good news was the excellent sleuthing by ALP members in the Sydney electorate of Lindsay. It was a well orchestrated midnight bust catching the Liberals out red handed. Complete with pictures of the offenders with the offensive material.

It was work Today Tonight would be proud of.

Nielsen or Galaxy who do you believe?

A Nielsen predicted Labor annihilation of the Coalition. (57-43 TTP)

Or

Or Galaxy with a painful tooth and nail battle between Howard and Rudd (52-48 TTP)

The answer probably lays somewhere between the two, although I will continue to fantasise at length and in depth about a 57-43 TTP translating to a storming Labor Party victory which the memories and video tapes of can restore my flagging self esteem for years to come on those lonely Friday and Saturday nights at home.

BRAD: HOWARD THE TEAM SWITCHER

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007
brad-howard-the-team-switcher

John Howard the sell out, stand for nothing.

He loves to wear Kangaroos, Wannabies, Aussie cricket, Succeroo gear around to try and trick some people into liking him. Trying to wrap himself in nationalism.

But the guy is an impostor.

He claims he is a St George Dragons fan, but I always found this highly dubious. There was the old story that he didn’t even know who the Dragons Immortal Johnny Raper was in person.

But recent election events sickeningly manifest my allegations that he is a sell out, stand for nothing, turn coat, team switcher, who uses sport to try to improve his popularity.

JOHN HOWARD A TIGER AT HEART.

Case in point was the announcement of Coalition funding for Leichhardt Oval, home of the Wests Tigers and of the joint venture partner and foundation rugby league club the Balmain Tigers.

CLICK HERE FOR THE STORY ON THE WEEKLYTIMES.

Prime Minister John Howard revealed he is really a Tiger at heart at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday even though he is patron of his childhood St George Illawarra Dragons.

Mr Howard visited Leichhardt Oval where he was enthusiastically greeted by Balmain and Wests Tigers officials, players and Balmain juniors including Balmain Tigers legends Benny Elias, Garry Jack and Paul Sironen.

Balmain Tigers officials wanted to thank the Prime Minister for pledging $8 million towards the upgrading of Leichhardt Oval for the benefit of more than 100,000 people annually in a number of sports in addition to the Balmain Tigers, Wests Tigers and Balmain Junior Rugby League.

More than half of Balmain Junior Rugby League players live in the Bennelong electorate of the prime minister including the North Ryde Hawks, Holy Cross Rhinos, Carlingford Cougars and Dundas Shamrocks.

Fair enough giving much needed funds to Leichhardt. Great cause, much needed. I love rugby league and I love Leichhardt. I’m a Brisbane boy but some of my treasured rugby league memories are from Leichhardt, the place is amazing.

But he could at least do it in a manner that didn’t make him come off looking like a jackass.

Come to the function and say you are giving them the money because you recognise and respect the club and their history and the important part they will play in the future of the region.

Don’t come in saying you are a Tiger at heart after you have spent years suckling at the teet of the St George Dragons clamouring for the nourishment of sporting credibility.

And to actually use the term “at heart” is ridiculous.

The word heart means a lot to me, maybe it doesn’t to Mr Howard. But to say that to me means that is where your heart and soul truly lies. At the end of the day it’s Tigers #1 and Saints #2. It is a massive slap in the face to Saints fans and even to Tigers fans who are smart enough to see they are being used.

There is a reason this bloke gets so soundly booed at every rugby league event he attends! We have had his number for years and here he is showing his true turncoat colours.

He could have said he considers them a second team or always loved to see them do well as a respected rival. But no he raided the Tigers merchandise stand and got the inflatable hands and the beanie and the slippers. Decked out in gold and black declaring his heart is black and gold!

This bloke has no shame! He is a manipulator, a user and the sooner we are done with him the better!

What team will he support next?

OK to be fair that was a gift from the fantastic new Gold Coast Titans NRL club to John Howard.

But you have to admit he does look like a very happy present recipient.

BRAD: DEDICATED RUDD TV CHANNEL!

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007
brad-dedicated-rudd-tv-channel

The best thing in the world just happened.

SKY NEWS has a dedicated Rudd channel! All full of 24hours a day of Ruddness.

I was wondering why there was so much Howard on the Election Channel until I realised it had turned into a HOWARD channel and the Business channel was now a RUDD channel.

So for those of you lucky enough to have Foxtel, switch to SKY NEWS active and check out the two channels for each political opponenty.

Rudd TV for the Rebel Alliance and Howard TV for the dickheads.

I’ll have to clarify some things on my last post. I don’t hate all Coalition supporters, just the overwhelming majority, ex girlfriends and their parents included especially.

I don’t hate Yak. He may be a Coalition stooge but he is one of the most awesome people I know, so I won’t hold it against him. He is just misguided. I’ll keep trying to work on him over the next three years but he looks like a write off for Election 2007.

Even my own brother is a long time Liberal supporter, something I never shut up over. I often say he has forgotten his roots.

Growing up in the old family XY Falcon that only started up less than half the time with no consistant colour scheme. No air con and only and AM radio.

That’s old school ALP. Now he drives around in a Beamer!

But he admits he would vote for Rudd and Labor if it wasn’t for his local ALP member who he greatly dislikes. I won’t mention the members name, but it is one of my favourites.

BRAD: WE’RE COMING BACK!

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007
brad-were-coming-back

You calling me a bludger?

I don’t think anyone who thinks having a job is a novelty has any right to judge anyone on their work ethic.

What a load of bullshit.

Speaking of bullshit….

I find it incredibly just and ironic that one of the most racist and divisive Australian governments in recent history has one of their last chances to rally their troops with John Howard’s final speech sabotaged by the racist and fraudulent antics of some within their ranks. And it isn’t just Joe Blow, but the spouses of a retiring MP and a candidate.

I delighted in watching the post speech questions focus on the scandal and also on the Costello change over. Denying Howard any chance of summoning any momentum.

So it looks like the Coalition will limp into the Election….

I have no idea how these clowns thought they wouldn’t get caught out on this scam. I guess Liberals aren’t that intelligent.

And they claim their wives knew nothing about it. Yea right.

But I don’t just hate the Coalition, I also hate the losers that support and vote for them.

Here is a copy of the racist evil disgraceful unAustralian despicable deplorable etc etc secret Liberal pretending Labor pro Islamic flyer.

Did I spin that enough?

Well I have multiple internet msgs and a couple phone calls asking if it was me that put Kirribilli House for sale. They swear black and blue that it has my finger prints all over it, with my brand of shenanigans. I seem to have cultivated an impressive reputation as a public nuisance and annoyance.

But it wasn’t me and I applaud the funny bastard that did it!

One of the shots shows a man posing outside the front entrance wearing a Kevin07 T-shirt.

Hahaha. Our side of politics are so much funnier. To the Liberals the only funny joke is a racist one.

ROLL ON ELECTION DAY! IT’S TIME TO TAKE BACK THE COUNTRY!

WE’RE COMING BACK!

BRAD: SURPRISINGLY IT WASN’T ME

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007
brad-surprisingly-it-wasnt-me

Well Howard’s private stormtroopers have sprang into action, protecting John Howard against people with offsensive (TO HIM) and trendy t shirts.

Kevin07 shirt wearer dragged away from PM

I’m looking forward to wearing my new t shirt on Sunday….

BUSTED: Liberals pretend to be pro Labor Muslims.

“They were trying to distribute a flyer that purported to come from the Islamic Australia Federation calling on Muslims to vote Labor in the suburb of St Marys where there has been some controversy over a proposed mosque,” Mr Jaeschke said.

Meanwhile a Joe Hockey supporter’s campaign paraphenirla has been assault.

A resident of the seat of North Sydney said a campaign poster for Liberal candidate Joe Hockey that was displayed in her front yard has been destroyed, and a car window smashed.

“Joe Hockey’s picture had been destroyed and a bottle had been thrown through the back of my husband’s car,” said the woman, who did not wish to be identified.

“I find it very offensive that because of the poster, that is why they’ve done it.”

I think all campaign posters are inviting vandalism and silvernearing. (Love my spelling?).

But how am I supposed to believe that this just isn’t all a big anti labor set up, it was those Islamic Rudd lovers.

I have an awesome idea for the next Federal Election in regards to campaign posters, more on that later.

So how is that concession speech coming along Sheldon?

BRAD: LIBERAL DIRTY TRICKS

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007
brad-liberal-dirty-tricks

The Coalition are getting desperate. Yesterday they trotted out that results from their investigating, no double ACA style, show that 13 Labor candidates have doubt over their illegibility.

Claims the ALP rejects.

Candidate George Newhouse is obviously top of that heap. But Labor claim they have had legal advice saying he is in the clear. And then the Liberals say they have legal advice that Labor legal advice is bullshit.

But Newhouse failing to turn up to all these events and media spots doesn’t look good, it makes him look like he has something to hide. He needs to turn up to these things, don’t be afraid.

It really bothers me that this has even happened. Turncoat Turnbull is right in our sights on a slim margin and it would be terrible not to put him through the cleaners with his Coalition mates.

Surely the ALP has a check list to ensure all these little crap details are worked out, surely they hold your hand through the process for both the party and the candidates sake.

Julia Gillard was 16 minutes late for an AM radio gig, a debate with Peter Costello. Who would have made a field day with the 16 minutes and all the ammo it brought him. The host was at her like a dog on a cat, and I think Julia really has to apologise, her actions were disrespectful and outrageous.

No one, no one should be subjected to the presence of Peter Costello for 16 minutes, especially undiluted. It’s cruel and unusual punishment.

Rogue…or as I call him nutcase Nationals Senator Barnaby Joyce is backflipping on comments he made yesterday that he would vote for Labor’s IR laws through the senate.

He also said this about Kevin Rudd.

He says if Kevin Rudd thinks he is the messiah of the Labor Party, he is deluding himself.

“I believe that Mr Rudd believes he is a messianic figure for the Labor Party, but I think the only person that thinks that Mr Rudd is a messianic figure is Mr Rudd,” he said.

Well that isn’t true, there are at least two people who think that…

Well last night was my first real sleep in nearly a week, I must have slept for 17 hours. I remember once I slept for exactly 24 hours uninterrupted. I went to bed at like 11:40pm and woke up at 11:25pm and got freaked out that 15 minutes disappeared, went around for the next half day thinking it was the wrong day of the week.

I’m still trying to work out what I’ll be doing Election night. Where will I watch it and what channels, or will I flick between a few.

Sky News promises no clowns or circuses, so I might give that a miss.

I’m definitely going to tape it.

And what is the deal with Sheldon continuously not putting titles on his posts? That’s so Coalition. You never know what you are getting with them.

Open a post and you don’t know what you’ll read. Vote for them in the 2004 Election and get oppressive and evil Industrial Relations (Slave) Laws.

BRAD: HE’S BAAAACCCK

Sunday, November 18th, 2007
brad-hes-baaaaccck

Labor’s own Frankenstein is back for another bask in the limelight, Mark Latham.

He sunk his teeth into Labor’s industrial relations policy and campaign, calling it a fear campaign none of them believed in.

So thank you Mark for for giving Howard and Costello some extra bullets to fire in the final week, although I doubt they will do any damage at all, I still loathe the fact you did it.

This has become the golden rule of Australian politics: the best fear campaign achieves the best result,” Mr Latham said.

“During the campaign, Labor’s advertisements have added a new dimension of fear, that a re-elected Howard/Costello government would take Work Choices further.

“The scariest thing about modern campaigning is the cynicism with which it is conducted. No one on the Labor side honestly believes the coalition would take Work Choices further, just as in 2004 no one in the coalition believed they would keep interest rates down.

“For a fear campaign to work, it does not need to be plausible. It just needs to play into the avarice and gullibility of swinging voters.”

One minute he says he is done with politics and doesn’t care, content with being a stay at home dad and authoring books filled with hand grenades for former political comrades.

Although I do admire his ability to hate better than anyone else and come up with amusing nicknames and observations.

Kevin Rudd was on Rove this evening watering the youth vote.

I missed it but hopefully it will be on Youtube which I can load after 4 hours on my dial up to watch.

On that other big political contest - the US presidential race - he revealed he was backing Hillary Clinton over Barack Obama as the Democratic candidate.

I’m an Obama fan myself, Hillary isn’t any Bill, let me tell you.

Mr Rudd also revealed he was confident he could take out Mr Howard in a bar-room brawl.

Nice, all Federal Elections should be decided in this fashion, just to enhance the Australianess of the process.

When he denied hating Mr Howard - he just wanted him out of government - McManus suggested Mr Rudd would still beat him in a fight.

“If I couldn’t, wouldn’t there be a real problem?, ” Mr Rudd asked.

“The guy’s 20 years older than me.”

The generation gap also explained the difference between a nerd and a geek, he said.

Touche.

Well with all the talk of the election being close, it will probably be for the best for the Rudd/Labor cause. Aussies are a bit funny with underdogs and tall poppies. You want to be the underdog. With it being close hopefully it will mobilise every vote for him.

Kevin Rudd’s First Five steps as PM.

1. Ratify the Kyoto Protocol. “We need to make sure we are around the negotiating table immediately … for the next round of commitments on reducing global greenhouse gas emissions.”

2. Start immediately to negotiate with the states on reform of hospital practices. “That is of crucial importance - we’ve got $2.5billion on the table but we’ll need to frame a co-operative agreement around performance measures.”

3. Begin the roll-out of the high-speed broadband network, along with connections to schools. In tandem, open up tenders for the $1 billion school computer program.

4. “Hit the ground running” with the implementation of the $2.5 billion program to upgrade trades training centres in secondary schools. “I went back to C block [the technical faculty] at [his old school] Nambour High the other day - it hadn’t changed since I was there. It was like walking into a museum.”

5. Begin negotiations with the Americans and Iraqis for the staged withdrawal by mid next year of Australian combat troops. “I have been very blunt with President Bush … I have a no-surprises policy when it comes to these things.”

OK I am out. Got assignments to do. Hope you enjoyed the quadtriple Brad action, maybe tomorrow we will go for 5 in a row if Shelly’s committment to the Coalition cause.

Even if they do lose, Sheldon will always be an out of touch, disconnected, aloof and arrogant pain in the arse. He is Liberal for life.

BRAD: CAN YOU SMELL THAT?

Sunday, November 18th, 2007
brad-can-you-smell-that

No it’s not Sheldon, it’s fear from the Coalition.

Today marks a new week in the campaign, the sixth week, the last week.

Reality of defeat is hitting home on them.

Today we saw them not change tactics but escalate existing ones in a desperate bid to hang on to power. They didn’t work for five weeks and they aren’t going to work for a sixth.

I think the ALP should thank the Coalition for the free advertising they now have gracing their campaign backdrops. Now no matter if its a Coalition or ALP press conference, everyone can be reminded how fantastic the ALP is.

But get a load of Howard claiming that if Labor get in the mining boom will cease. Get that. Can you hear the flush of all his remaining credibility going down the can? Like he is sum kind of Moses parting the stormy economic seas.

The absence of one man and one government and the ascention of another (cooler) party is dead set going to stop the hunger of India and China and other nations for resources.

Maybe with Rudd’s mandarin we might be able to swing some extra deals.

What else has happened today…oh I’m too tired. I’ve been up for two days already and don’t plan on sleeping until Monday night. I’ve got six assignments due. I’m bouyed by receiving a distinction for the last one I just handed in.

Much like the ALP, I’m tired of being a loser. I want to win. Being a loser is only trendy and counter culture for so long. So it’s a fight back. A semesters work in a weekend.

Climate report shows need to act: Labor

____________________________

All these polls coming out at the moment show Labor in front but predict a tight contest. I don’t need that, I have my health to worry about. I’m shocked that polling estimates we will only pick up two extra seats in sunny Queensland. I think we will pick up at least six.

I wonder where Sheldon is. Probably preparing his concession post for Saturday night. More importantly where the hell is his Coalition same sex partner Yak…
