BRAD: WE JUMPED THE SHARK!

Hey Shell, I just realised. We jumped the shark!

But like every good producer of media worth his weight, we are going to run this baby into the ground and milk it for all it is worth until the next federal election!

Alot has been happening though, it keeps me more than interesting.

Yesterday I watched the orientation for new MPs of Parliament, with the outgoing speaker running through all the rules and ins and outs and it was great cause it answered dozens of questions I always had.

It was pretty exciting stuff and it felt like they were uni students or something. Hey it would be exciting to have a bludgy job like that, get lots of money and perks.

Also we have one Aussie and one Pom from the Seashepard group, invading the Japanese ship and then being tied to a mask and held hostage.

Over in the USA, a third different Republican candidate one a primary, which makes it pretty confusing. But they are all unlikable, with Huckberry Hound being the pick for mine.

I’m still barracking for Osa…Obama. Being a blackman at heart, I think it is time we had a black president. Besides that I really dislike Hillary.

Join us next time on this increasingly more irrelevant  with fast eroding levels of quality and research. But just wait till I get broadband, then Ill put heaps of effort back into our mediocrity.

Sheldon: Happy Belated New Year

I’ve just saw the video Brad was talking about yesterday. I’m pretty impressed by the efforts people will go to on youtube. It’s actually quite professional looking. Of course this all came about after an ad by Bluetongue brewery to promote their beer as “whale safe”. The idea behind it is that they want people to boycott beer brands that are owned or partially owned by Japanese companies, in particular… for instance, Tooheys. Apparently also $1 from every beer sold is going to some radical anti-whaling group.

It’s an incredibly cynical campaign which I hope backfires on Bluetongue. Now I’m no prude, I have no problems with any offensive thing you can chuck on television (or find on certain internet sites) but I think when you have to go to such lengths to sell a beer than obviously you’re doing something wrong. I realise that the campaign is more about producing publicity of any kind but can’t we go back to ads that attempt to sell a product on its own merits? Or if not that, have some ironical twist that makes a joke out of it? Or if you feel that strongly about whaling do something tasteful like start a Facebook group about it.

I’m looking forward to seeing what other causes companies can exploit to sell products. Aboriginal health is very “in” at the moment. Global warming is so last year. The civil war in Iraq isn’t holding the 18-35 market like it used to. The drought is big in key regional areas.

However I do hope that a youtube war starts up over this as that could be fairly entertaining…

Brad I reckon if you load up the video and leave your internet on you might be able to watch it after a few days…

BRAD: BACK TO BUSINESS

Well there are certainly alot of things going on in the world.

The Japs have made an anti aussie youtube film.

I’m too poverty to be able to watch it cause I have dial up.

I can see an international youtube video war happening. I think Australia will win, because let’s face it, we are funnier. Have you ever seen or heard about a sophisicated Japanese live action comedy series? Animated penquins and yellow rats and scantily glad tweens all round for their idiot boxes.

Unfortuntely I wont be able to participate in or incite the online propaganda war as I have dial up….. It’s no fair Shell.

But I have already discussed with Sheldon that they should remake Star Trek: The Voyage Home and instead of having Kirk and Spock and the Enterprise crew stealing a couple humpbacks. They should use their Klingon Bird of Prey to fire disrupters and torpedos at the Japanese whaling fleet.

I mean serious, they are just absolute low lives for slaughtering whales. It’s sickening.

With the Rudd government reviewing all of Howard’s funding packages. I have to wonder what is the status of the funding for the RL Hall of Fame and funds for the Centenary and World Cup.

Surely Kevin Rudd can’t cross that out. Labor are the workers party and rugby league is the working class game. It would piss of millions of rugby league fans if that didn’t come through.

Welcome to a brand new Howard free year.

The Brisbane local elections are coming up, something I look forward to. If Lord Mayor Campbell Newman gets unsetted so does the current highest ranking publically elected Liberal official. So that is a big incentive to knock them off.

Over in the Minor Nation of US and A. A surprise victory for Barack Obama over Hillary Clinton in Iowa. Which must add alot of credibility to his aim to be President. It should see him further strengthened in further upcoming votes.

The Democrats, who of course I cheer for over the evil Republican party, are interesting as it seems to be a battle between who wants to be the nation’s first female President and the first black President.

If either win, history will be made. I am hoping Obama does. He also has the O FACTOR. Which is Oprah Winfrey. She would have to stem the flow of support from women to Hillary. And between her and Obama they would have to motivate a hell of a lot of people to vote, maybe for the first time.

At least we will be thoroughly entertained this year by the US and A elections. I am still in shock that Americans were stupid enough to re-elect Bush last time but I guess John Kerry was a horrible candidate.

I’m currently growing a strike beard in support of the Writer’s Strike in the US and A. The writers are the ones that create the stories and ideas, that make the shows and they should be getting a lot more respect and money, but sadly this is so far from the case.

It is funny watching Leno and Conan without writers.
