What really bothers me about this so called Garrett gaffe is the fact that most of the media ignored two things.
The third person who was a part of this conversation Richard Wilkins backs up Peter’s explaination of the exchange.
That’s nearly enough to put the rumour of that Kevin Rudd’s Labor is in the process of building a post election empire to bed, but wait there is more!
I think the fact that self elected champion of the people, Steve Price’s wife actually works for the Liberal Party, advisor to Joe Hockey Workplace Relations Minister. Who by the way is one of my least favourite Ministers who presides over one of the most loathsome legislation ever undemocratically imposed over Australians, Work Choices.
It’s just ridiculous, this entire affair is a beat up.
Opinion: Garrett’s comments come as Steve Price pushes personal agenda
Anyone who thinks Kevin Rudd is going to turn on a dime and throw away all his principles and renege on all his promises is either a fool or a Coalition supporter, of course those two groups are in no way mutually exclusive and can often be found in close proximity.
It’s Kevin’s goal to be elected and then re-elected. Don’t believe the next Coalition gee up that it is Kevin Rudd’s plan to crown himself Emperor after the election and declare himself Dictator for Life.
Although that theory would stack up better than the crap the Coalition are trotting out at the moment. That Kevin Rudd and Labor will betray the voters just as soon as he leads his party back into power after 11 years in the wilderness, after four embarrassing Federal election defeats, especially in the highly competitive democracy of Australia.
If the occasional gaffe in politics during an election campaign is ammunition for the other party, this myth of Labor betrayal would be like hand delivering Opposition leader Peter Costello a devastating salvo of ballistic nuclear warheads that would wipe Labor off the Federal political map for years to come.
But it won’t happen, because in that Coalition wet dream it would have to be Labor that pulls that trigger.
It isn’t going to happen and I am sure Labor, if elected, will go to great lengths to repay the faith placed in it by the voters and hopefully build a Labor dynasty.

Speaking of suspicion, maybe I missed it, but does anyone remember hearing about Work Choices in 2004?

OK I’ve had a rant now let’s do some fun stuff. If any of you are still tuned in, you have earned it.
Looks like John Howard is doing some spring cleaning and D.I.Y renovation at his pad at Wollstonecraft, Sydney. Hopefully this is a sign that he is starting to think his number is up!
Even if it isn’t that is the way myself and the media will be spinning it ok?
Maybe his eagerness for some sprucing up of his old place has been helped along by the popularity of Labor contender Maxine McKew in his own electorate of Beeninalong.
PM may lose seat to Maxine McKew
An exclusive Galaxy Poll conducted for The Sunday Mailfound that in the past six months the Prime Minister’s wheels have been spinning in his own backyard, with Ms McKew headed for victory with 52 per cent of the two-party preferred vote, compared to 48 per cent for Mr Howard.
Well I am impressed with that poll. Many may just dismiss polls, but I am confident that they have plenty of value. Results like this plastered everywhere in the media obviously legitimise Maxine ’s joust for the seat of Bennelong.
She is no longer a pretender, she is a real threat.
Which is good news for Labor cheerleaders like me, because it puts John Howard in two minds…or is that two faces? No he already had that. Two minds, it puts him in two minds and cuts into his time to campaign nationally.
They reckon he has spent more time in Bennelong this election that during campaigning for all other elections combined.
But I don’t think it is as devastating as it seems, because we live in a digital age and Bennelong is part of Australia’s largest city, Sydney. Johnny could announce policy and anti Labor spin from the bathroom at Killabilby house.
Though not only is Maxine a good chance of taking Bennelong and uncerimoniously dethrone John Howard but her presence makes Howard fight a war on two fronts, at home and nationally.
Anything that makes John Howard cranky get five gold stars from me, he is so funny when he is angry or feinting outrage.

OK so that wasn’t that fun, but I never said it was a core promise.
Remember that, since when are there degrees of promise, core and none core.
The Coalition have announced a massive amount of funding for SEQLD’s congested roads. A really important issue and one that would be extremely weighty in Queensland seats. It is just nightmarish traffic in Brisbane, Ipswich and the Gold Coast. Any significant plans and funds will win votes.
So I hope Labor and Kevin Rudd really hit a home run in this department. I’m confident because Wayne Swan and Kevin Rudd are Brisbane boys. I’m sure they have spent hours banging their head on their steering wheels and having to add an hour to your ETA just to make sure you aren’t late. It is absolute misery on Queensland roads and it must make a lot of people very unhappy, a lot of businesses unhappy and must tear shreds of the productivity of SEQLD.
I often hang my head in shame driving down the Gateway Motor way past the Brisbane air port seeing the masses of traffic snaked back trying to merge into the stationary traffic on the Gateway motorway that reaches back to the horizon. And I say welcome to Brisbane, Queensland and/or Australia….
It must be a fantastic first impression for interstate and international guests.

So we need more funding for roads and if Labor wants to win some more votes in QLD and NSW.
Two words Labor, RUGBY LEAGUE.
How else do you think Queensland Labor is so popular? It’s their fantastic support of rugby league. Is that true Sheldon, it’s not just my vote is it? I am mainstream enough to say things like that? Actually don’t listen to Sheldon, he is an AFL fan…in Queensland mind you.
He is so peculiar and odd and his hobbies are so bizzare and left field that his opinions should be void and ignored.
Kevin, we have the Rugby League Centenary and World Cup in 2008 and a lot of rugby league fans are wondering when you will be honouring us with some support? The Coalition have already put $12.6million into the World Cup, centenary celebrations and a rugby league museum.
Please match and exceed! Rugby league is the working class game and we are all waiting for support from the working party, the Labor Party!
Also start going on morning wal…no cycles…so we have a nice point of difference. Go on morning cycles and wear Broncos and Maroons jerseys.

Is it Day 21 of the election? I’ve lost count, well let’s hope it is an interesting and entertaining one.
