Sheldon: Electoral Enrolment and Laziness
Thursday, October 4th, 2007
Well unlike Brad who seems to have plenty of time to waste buying junk from the Kevin07 website, some of us have to live out in the real world and earn money for a living. Unfortunately this means that you have to put up with more of Brad’s propaganda than my sensible, well articulated (big word) arguments. I’m actually banging out this post in the ten minutes I have before I head off to work. And to make this somewhat relevant, the company I work for actually scans the electoral forms that everyone sends in round this time of year… which makes it hell for us. Just so you know: don’t enrol, less work for me.
I have to say that I’m in favour of closing the electoral rolls when the election is called. If you’re too stupid to realise that an election has been coming up for the last six months and can’t be bothered to fill in a form, well than you deserve not to be part of the democratic system. I see it as form of intelligence test and if you can’t pass it, you don’t vote. Brad is willing to pander to the lazy and the stupid, but I’d prefer not to.
Hmm, do the Liberal Party sell any merchandise? I’d actually buy some and wear it when I’m around Brad to bug the hell out of him. Although, there’s always the risk of beat-downs if you’re in someway related to the Liberal Party. I remember the Painters and Dockers Union (I bet about two people got that reference).
Anyway I’m off. My next post will probably be from a net kiosk at a little used shopping centre. No doubt I’ll be inspired by the atmosphere.
